Garlic Bread Pizza is a simple, tasty, and fun meal that you can easily make at home. It is made using crispy French bread instead of regular pizza dough, which makes it quicker and easier. The bread is first spread with rich garlic butter, then baked until slightly crispy, and finally topped with sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings.

This recipe is perfect for busy weekdays, relaxing weekends, or even small gatherings. It is also great for kids because everyone can choose their own toppings and make their own mini pizza. The roasted garlic butter gives a deep, rich flavor that makes this pizza taste extra special.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 2 heads garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened at room temperature)
  • Salt (as needed)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 16 ounces fresh mozzarella (sliced)
  • ½ cup pepperoni
  • ½ cup sliced sweet peppers
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (for topping, optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Fresh basil (for topping)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare and Roast the Garlic

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Take the garlic heads and cut off the top part so the cloves inside are visible. Gently remove any loose or extra outer skin.

Place each garlic head on a piece of foil. Drizzle a little olive oil over the top so it goes into the cloves. Wrap the foil tightly around each garlic head.

Put them in the oven and roast for 45 to 60 minutes. The garlic should become soft, golden, and slightly brown. This process makes the garlic sweet and flavorful.

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes so you can handle it easily.

Step 2: Make the Garlic Butter

Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).

Squeeze the soft roasted garlic cloves out of their skins into a bowl. Add the softened butter and a small pinch of salt.

Mash everything together well until the garlic is fully mixed into the butter. It should become smooth and creamy with a rich garlic flavor.

Step 3: Prepare the Bread

Take the French bread and cut it into two halves. Then slice each half lengthwise so you have flat pieces.

Place all the bread pieces on a baking tray with the cut side facing up.

Spread the garlic butter evenly over each piece of bread. Make sure the surface is well covered so every bite has flavor.

Step 4: First Bake

Put the tray into the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

During this time, the butter will melt into the bread, and the edges will become slightly crispy and golden. This step helps create a strong base for your pizza.

Step 5: Add the Toppings

Remove the bread from the oven carefully.

Spread marinara sauce evenly on each piece. Then add slices of fresh mozzarella cheese on top.

Next, add pepperoni and sliced sweet peppers. You can also add any other toppings you like, such as vegetables, chicken, or olives.

Step 6: Second Bake

Place the tray back into the oven.

Bake again for 12 to 15 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly, and the bread becomes crispy on the edges.

Step 7: Final Touch and Serving

Take the pizza out of the oven.

Sprinkle parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper flakes, and fresh basil on top for extra flavor.

Let it cool slightly, then slice into pieces and serve warm.

Tips & Tricks

  • Roasting garlic gives the best taste because it becomes soft and slightly sweet.
  • If you are short on time, you can use fresh minced garlic instead of roasted garlic.
  • Always use softened butter so it mixes easily with garlic.
  • Do not overbake the bread in the first step, or it may become too hard.
  • Try different toppings to create new flavors every time.
  • You can prepare the garlic butter earlier and store it in the fridge.
